What is a standard porta potty?
A standard porta potty is a single-user portable toilet with a seat over a 60-gallon holding tank, a urinal, a hand-sanitizer dispenser, two toilet paper holders and a locking door. Dennis Rental Works rents the PolyJohn PJN3 as its standard unit. It needs no water, power or hookups.

Specs from the PolyJohn PJN3 manufacturer listing. The translucent roof lets in daylight, and the anti-slip floor helps in wet weather. Width matters for gates: a 43.5-inch unit needs a gate at least 48 inches wide for the crew and dolly.
When is a standard porta potty the right choice?
A standard porta potty is the right choice for jobsites, home remodels, backyard parties of up to about 50 guests, sports practices and farm work. It is the wrong choice when guests expect a flushing toilet and sink, or when a wheelchair user needs access. Then choose a deluxe or accessible unit.

Where should a standard porta potty go?
Place a standard porta potty on firm, level ground within about 25 feet of where the truck can park. Keep it off the sidewalk and street, 10 feet from doors and windows, and clear of overhead wires. On a Frisco build, keep it within 200 feet walking distance of every lot it serves.
- Turn the door away from the street for privacy.
- Avoid septic lids, sprinkler heads and soft clay after rain.
- Ask us to stake it on open lots during spring storm season.
Questions renters ask us
Will a porta potty fit through my backyard gate?
A standard PolyJohn PJN3 is 43.5 inches wide and 47 inches deep. The crew needs a gate at least 48 inches wide and a firm, step-free path to roll it on a dolly. A wheelchair-accessible unit is 62 inches wide and usually needs a double gate or front-yard placement.
Do your porta potties come with seat covers?
Every Dennis Rental Works standard unit includes hand sanitizer and two rolls of toilet paper. Toilet seat cover dispensers can be added on request at no extra charge for jobsite accounts. Ask when you book so the driver loads them on delivery day.
How often do you clean the porta potty?
Dennis Rental Works services 28-day rentals once a week. Event rentals arrive clean and stocked, and multi-day events get service between days. High-traffic sites can add a second weekly visit. Each visit is logged with the date and time.
Why does a 3-day rental cost about the same as a month?
Most of the cost is truck time: the delivery trip, the service trip and the pickup trip. A 3-day construction rental still needs all three trips, so jobsite units are priced per 28-day cycle. Short event rentals are priced per event instead, which is usually cheaper for 1–3 days.
Can you stake the unit down so it does not blow over?
Yes. Dennis Rental Works can stake or strap units on open jobsites and windy lots at no charge when requested. North Texas spring storms can bring strong gusts, so anchoring is a good idea on bare lots from March through June.
Can I keep the porta potty longer than I planned?
Yes. Just keep it. A 28-day rental rolls into the next cycle automatically at the same rate. For an event rental, call before the scheduled pickup and dispatch moves the pickup date. Extra days on an event unit are quoted before we change the order.
